Starting September 3rd, GentleWays for OurPlanet will take part in It’s in Our Hands, a community art exhibit bringing together local artists who care deeply about our shared home: Earth.
Each artist has chosen a personal lens to explore our environmental challenges: the enduring harm of single-use plastics, the threat of nuclear waste to our waters, the overuse of nature’s gifts, the legacy we leave for our children, and – in our case – the quiet power of repair. GentleWays founder, Aïda Warah will be one of the contributing artists through a Poster carrying the message: Repair Don’t Replace.
At GentleWays, our work on the Right to Repair is grounded in a simple idea: the things we own deserve longer lives. Repairing an item instead of replacing it conserves the resources and energy used to make it, reduces waste, and allows us to form a deeper relationship with what we keep. Over time, these relationships foster respect , not only for our possessions, but for the people and ecosystems involved in their creation.
We have been encouraging this mindset through our Repair Don’t Replace campaign. Our planned activities include sharing repair resources in our community and helping support a culture of repair. We want to make repairs available and more affordable. We are currently working on creating a local repair directory to connect people with skilled repair services year-round, helping to keep useful items in circulation and supporting a thriving local repair culture.
The It’s in Our Hands exhibit reflects the same spirit that drives our work: that small, mindful choices ripple outward, shaping the world we leave behind. We hope visitors leave feeling inspired by the knowledge that each of us can act with care, mindfulness, and creativity to protect what we cherish.
You are invited to drop by the Happy Goat any time between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. to take a look.
