The Right to Repair initiative supports a shift away from our throwaway culture by empowering people to fix broken items instead of discarding them. Repairing extends the life of our belongings, reduces waste, saves money, and helps protect the environment — a win for both consumers and the planet.
To make repair easier and more accessible, we’re developing the Ottawa Repair Directory — a community resource that helps residents find trusted local repair services, from clothing and small appliances to electronics and furniture.
If you’re not sure where to start, the directory helps you take the next step quickly: find a repair option near you, contact a service provider, and keep useful items out of landfill.
The directory is still growing — and you can help build it.
If you know a great local repair shop — or if you own or work at one — we’d love to include it. Please visit the Ottawa Repair Directory page and click “Get listed in the directory” to submit the details.
You can also support this initiative simply by using the directory and sharing it with others. The more people choose repair, the more we strengthen local repair skills and businesses.

Our goal is to make repair an easy, accessible, and normal choice in our community.
Explore the “Directory” — and spread the word.
